Building Resilience: Strengthening Jamaica’s Water Sector in a Changing Climate

Jamaica’s water sector is under increasing pressure from the effects of climate change—including more frequent droughts, unpredictable rainfall patterns, and rising temperatures. This video delves into the climate-related vulnerabilities affecting Jamaica's vital water resources and the cascading impact on agriculture, livelihoods and overall development.

Through interviews with national experts and water sector professionals, the video sheds light on the urgent need for more reliable, science-based information to guide decision-making in climate-sensitive sectors. It explores how climate variability is disrupting water availability and highlights the need for long-term adaptation planning to protect communities and infrastructure.

Central to the video is the role of the Intra-ACP Climate Services and related Applications (ClimSA) Programme, which is working in collaboration with the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology and national institutions to enhance the production and use of climate information services.
